Want to Create a GIF in Photoshop? Here’s How!

Are you interested in learning how to create a GIF in Photoshop? Whether you pronounce it GIF or JIF, this animated image format has been around since 1987 and is still a popular way to share memes and private jokes. If you’re looking to create your own custom GIFs, it’s actually quite easy to do in Photoshop. Whether you’re seeking attention in a group chat, want to send a personalized message to someone special, or simply want to learn how to create motion images, read on to discover how to create a GIF in Photoshop.

How to Create a Gif in Photoshop

1. To create a GIF, bring in the images you want to use and make sure that they are open as layers within the same canvas.

2. Select Window, then select Timeline.

3. Select Create Frame Animation.

4. Click on the three-line menu located in the top-right corner and choose the option “Make Frames From Layers” to proceed.

5. Next, select the dropdown menu located just below the timeline and choose “Forever” to ensure that the GIF will loop endlessly. Use the space bar to preview the GIF and confirm that you’re satisfied with the result.

6. To export your GIF, select File, then click Export and choose Save For Web.

7. Select the Gif 128 Dithered preset.

And that’s it – it’s easier than you might have imagined! While my personal favorite will always be the Calm Nature GIF, now you have the ability to create your own and have fun with it. You never know, one of your creations might even become the next viral sensation.
