Creating a Poll in WhatsApp: A Step-by-Step Guide

The world of WhatsApp just got a whole lot more interesting! For those of us who love to organize group chats, it can be a real challenge to keep everyone engaged and interested. Sure, you can always spark up a conversation or ask for opinions, but what if you want to get a more definitive answer? What if you need to make a decision and you want to make sure everyone is on board? Well, that’s where polls come in handy.

Until recently, creating a poll in WhatsApp was a bit of a hassle. You had to use an external website, which often meant signing up and getting everyone to click on a link. Alternatively, you could ask people to react to a message, but that was a pretty rudimentary approach, and you couldn’t really see who gave what answers.

But, thankfully, all of that has now changed. WhatsApp has finally answered the prayers of millions of users and introduced native polling within chats. And let me tell you, it’s a game-changer.

Take, for example, my recent experience organizing a bachelor party. I needed to find a date that worked for everyone, and the WhatsApp poll feature allowed me to do this quickly and easily. Gone were the days of creating external polls or counting reactions – I could now get detailed answers from everyone in one place, without any fuss or hassle.

If you’re like me and want to take advantage of this fantastic feature, then keep reading. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to create a poll in WhatsApp:

How to Create a Poll in WhatsApp: iPhone and Android

1. For iPhone users: in a WhatsApp chat, tap the plus button next to the text box.

For Android users: in a WhatsApp chat, tap the paper clip button next to the text box.

2. Tap Poll.

3. Type the question you want answering by the other chat members.

4. Enter the response options in the Options boxes.

5. To move an option, hold the three bars icon on the right and drag the option to where you want it placed. Release your finger when you’re happy with the position.

6. When you’re ready, tap Send.

7. In the chat, you’ll see the poll. Tap a response option to vote for it. You can vote for more than one!

8. Tap View Votes to see responses.

It appears that WhatsApp has taken into account people’s desire for prompt feedback when utilizing polls and has engineered this feature to be incredibly user-friendly. As a result, creating and participating in polls is effortless, which is precisely what it should be.
